BIOS
The BIOS is the Basic Input Output System of a computer which is started first when the computer is turned on. It checks all the available hardware, starts the Boot Sequence and loads up the Operating System with the Bootloader. You can change the various BIOS settings in the BIOS Menu.
The BIOS is stored on a chip on the Motherboard and is “preinstalled” to make the Motherboard functional in the first place.
Since the BIOS is working with the older MBR Partitioning it is getting replaced more and more with UEFI which works with modern GPT Partitioning.
Although newer devices mostly use UEFI the menu is still referred to as the BIOS Menu.
